Big day. Stitches removed at my 2:45 PM appointment with Dr. Boacke. Cleared me to ride my bike*, moderate range of motion and leaning forward to about 30°. Will feel great to be able to get the blood flowing again. (* I have a recumbent bike with electrodes that attach to my leg muscles. This is how I’ve stayed in shape for the last 38 years!)
Was given the keys to the car today! I was handed a small black briefcase that contains all the paraphernalia that goes along with the implantable device. It is essentially two pieces – controller and battery charger. Every night I’ve always just plugged in my wheelchair after going to bed. Now, I need to remember to charge my own internal battery for about an hour! Maybe you should begin to call me Steve Austin.
